Something Different

So, Rod-Man (aka MCA for this particular post) and I got to talking about some pretty interesting stuff. About halfway through I had the idea to post our conversation on Chyeah!, he agreed so here we are. This is the first time we've done a post like this on Chyeah!. Enjoy...?

Tômas: i wonder how different things would be if we didn't have to sleep

Tômas: we'd probably have rocket cars

MCA: hmm

MCA: a third more time

Tômas: indeed

Tômas: that would put us 670 years ahead

Tômas: i think

MCA: I think it's best not to think of these things

MCA: all the time wasted

Tômas: yea, maybe not

MCA: idk if I could be up all the time

MCA: everything would be different

Tômas: maybe if we were already used to it

Tômas: like, it's just the way people are

MCA: it wouldn't be a problem

MCA: but tv for instance would always have to be on

MCA: new shows all times of day

MCA: no throw away hours

Tômas: nope

MCA: what might we be doing right now?

Tômas: who knows if they would extend school hours or not

Tômas: if so, we could get through it faster

Tômas: and most people we know would be out of college already

MCA: idk

MCA: maybe they'd teach us more

MCA: since there is so much time

Tômas: you're probably right

Tômas: there would be more stuff to learn since people are up all the time discovering shit

Tômas: and more history would have happened

MCA: this kinda shit mindfucks people

Tômas: i guess we'd never be tired

Tômas: so it would be easy to go places like school

MCA: we'd have to have way more energy

MCA: and some means of replenishing it

Tômas: we might need to eat more often

Tômas: like, 8 meals a day

MCA: which means food disappears faster

Tômas: but with all this extra time we might be able to solve the food crisis that would inevitably develope

MCA: it's like a paradox

Tômas: we need a what if machine

Tômas: like that thing they use in futurama

MCA: if we never needed sleep then we might have one

Tômas: shit

MCA: they achieve it by the year 3000 with sleep

MCA: without it I don't see why we can't have it now

Tômas: not to mention how unproductive people are in the morning due to tired

Tômas: so no tired means even more work gets done

Tômas: that puts us at least some years more ahead

MCA: would we have ever developed coffee?

MCA: or soda

Tômas: hmm

MCA: energy drinks?

Tômas: probably soda, since no one drinks that to get energy

Tômas: they just drink it because it's good

MCA: true

Tômas: but maybe not those other two

Tômas: we obviously wouldn't miss them though

MCA: we sure as hell wouldn't have 5 hour energy

MCA: what's 5 hours gonna do if you're always awake.

Tômas: i can live in a world without five hour energy

Tômas: their commercials are annoying

MCA: true

Tômas: i srsly dongivafuck that monster has 12 tsps of sugar

MCA: lol

MCA: shit man

MCA: no beds

Tômas: probably couches though

MCA: where would people primarily have sex?

Tômas: just because we don't need sleep, i'm sure our legs will still get tired

Tômas: maybe beds would be invented then

MCA: sex pads

Tômas: that's probably what they'll be called

Tômas: when would kids watch porn then?

MCA: hell if I know

Tômas: this changes more than we originally thought

MCA: I guess when they didn't have school.

Tômas: i guess our parents would be working more

Tômas: but we'd also be going to school more

MCA: parents could work however many hours they want

Tômas: damn

Tômas: they ould

MCA: unless the job prevented

Tômas: could*

MCA: but they could just work many jobs

MCA: as long as they keep eating

Tômas: yea, why not

MCA: would food be more or less expensive?

Tômas: less

Tômas: remember we solved that crisis

MCA: so it's free?

Tômas: maybe at first

Tômas: but eventually i'm sure they'll find a way to make us pay

MCA: maybe for high energy food

MCA: like apples

MCA: which apparently are good to eat for breakfast

MCA: in our time

Tômas: along with cereal, orange juice, and some toast

Tômas: 'cause you know, complete breakfast according to commercials

MCA: right

MCA: I don't think it would matter when you ate what though

MCA: in no sleep time

Tômas: yea, i guess not

Tômas: there wouldn't be breakfast foods

Tômas: there would just be food

MCA: indeed

Tômas: which means no brinner

MCA: fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Tômas: srs

MCA: no dreams

MCA: daydreams maybe but they're nowhere near as hxc

Tômas: nope

Tômas: but we wouldn't know any better

MCA: how many things have "come to someone in a dream" though?

Tômas: shit

MCA: the entertainment business might be far less extensive

Tômas: that's no good

MCA: like you said, we wouldn't know

Tômas: so video games could be highly advanced

Tômas: but with shit stories

MCA: exactly

MCA: I was going to say it'd be like Halo but Halo isn't advanced.

MCA: all games would be like... Gears?

Tômas: maybe not even

Tômas: who knows if we would even have ideas about aliens

Tômas: don't most people get "abducted" when they're sleeping anyway?

MCA: I think so

Tômas: what about blacking out though?

Tômas: would we still have that

MCA: is that sleep?

Tômas: i don't know if it counts

Tômas: i think blacking is more like a defense mechanism against yourself

Tômas: blacking out*

MCA: lol

MCA: blacking sounds racist

Tômas: lol

MCA: I guess not

MCA: since you're not doing it for energy

MCA: people might freak out when others black out or faint.

Tômas: if people don't black out though they could be more likely to drink themselves to death

MCA: maybe we'd go in comas

MCA: more often

Tômas: damn

MCA: what would happen if you didn't eat?

Tômas: starve

MCA: so we'd starve faster if we didn't sleep, right?

MCA: because we're using more energy

Tômas: probably

MCA: they say you can go 3 days without food

Tômas: i thought it was 3 days without water and a week without food

MCA: my b

MCA: I can still make a point though

MCA: I'm pretty sure you could only go 2 days without water then due to math.

Tômas: yea, maybe

MCA: and 4 or 5 without food

Tômas: makes sense

MCA: what would people do after sex?

MCA: just leave?

Tômas: damn

Tômas: it sounds awkward to just cuddle for a while then leave

MCA: srs

Tômas: 'cause usually they cuddle until they fall asleep

Tômas: or rather until

Tômas: i said until

Tômas: my b

MCA: there could be no 1 night stands.

MCA: well they'd be much different

MCA: and probably better thought out

Tômas: right

MCA: like agreed upon that it's meaningless sex

MCA: since you can't just dip out afterward

Tômas: unless you trick her or something

Tômas: like, 'hey what's that over there'

Tômas: and run

MCA: lol

MCA: I'm wondering what it would be like outside

Tômas: we'd still have day and night and shit

Tômas: maybe just lots of people out all the time

MCA: that's what I was thinking

MCA: but parents would want kids inside when it was dark, right?

Tômas: probably

MCA: so what would kids do all night?

MCA: hmm

Tômas: hmm

MCA: maybe they'd school all night

MCA: and have days free

Tômas: that's what i was thinking

Tômas: damn man

Tômas: then wal-mart at 3 am won't be special anymore

MCA: there would be way more 24 hour stores

Tômas: maybe all of them

MCA: I was thinking all of them

Tômas: since people have way more time to work

Tômas: and no need to sleep

MCA: true

MCA: what about sundays though?

Tômas: 24 hour stores right from the beginning

Tômas: probably work

Tômas: since we do now, and we would be more motivated to if there was no sleep

Tômas: if you nahmean

MCA: I nahmean

MCA: but some stores just close early

MCA: what would be closing early if all of them other stores are always open?

Tômas: i know alcohol stores are closed on sundays

Tômas: maybe that'll stay the same

Tômas: since there's more work it doesn't seem like there would be time to party

MCA: there will be a lot of people not working though

MCA: or not working as much because work still sucks I'm sure

Tômas: true that

Tômas: but night time would be totally different

Tômas: so maybe parties wouldn't happen then, but any time

MCA: and if no one ever needs sleep, parties would last forever

Tômas: holy shit

MCA: or at least until all the heroin/balloons are gone

Tômas: that doesn't sound good

Tômas: parties aren't meant to last forever, i'm sure

MCA: nah

MCA: they might only end in fights and deaths

Tômas: probably more drunk driving too

MCA: indeed

MCA: more fires

Tômas: how are these people going to undrunk without sleep?

MCA: drugs that we develop with our extra time

Tômas: maybe they'll just throw up

Tômas: this alternate reality with no sleep isn't sounding as cool as before

MCA: lol

MCA: just like fairly odd parents

MCA: dammit

MCA: what happens when someone accidentally makes a sleeping pill?

Tômas: people start taking them because sleep is going to be so awesome to someone who's never had it

Tômas: then there will be a whole problem with people sleeping

Tômas: no work getting done

Tômas: and we'll just be back to where we are now

Tômas: well, not back since it never was

Tômas: but you nahmean

MCA: I nahmean

MCA: so this world ultimately ends in the world we're in now

Tômas: right

Tômas: just maybe 670 years ahead

Tômas: in terms of time spent working

MCA: right

MCA: if we were sleeping right now we never would have figured this out

Tômas: indeed

  2. ROFL!!! OMG, that was hilarious. One thing, though. If we lived in a world without sleep, then no one would have even invented sleeping pills. We only have them for people that can't sleep in the first place. Just saying.

  3. No no no. Someone would accidentally make this pill eventually. Maybe for a way to minimize how much energy one uses or a way to not have to eat as much. Once it's created and sleep begins, it is like a drug. Eventually people will be sleeping all the time. Then we're right back to where we are now.
